Here's is John Strawser Travels in West of Pecos.....
The Summer Swing is under way. The High Plains Drifter is now in situate in the 7,000 ft. Davis Mts. astride the Trans-Pecos Plateau, 500 miles west of Dallas, 200 miles east of El Paso, and 80 miles north of the Mexican border. And the stars are out here. Mt. Locke is the home of the University of Texas McDonald Observatory, and the nearby Prude Ranch is hosting the annual Texas Star Party. Enjoy the pics. I'm particularly pleased with the grip and greet photo with Brother Guy Consolmagno SJ, on Hawaiian shirt day at the Star Party. Brother Guy is a graduate of MIT, and the Keeper of the Pope's Vatican City State meteorite collection. His presentation that evening titled "Pluto and Planets X: Is Pluto a Planet? And Why Does It Matter" was very well received. Have Fun..John..from your friends in Central Penn Unit
