Feb 25,2011, Friday, Here is the gang(Lights,Barrs,Buchers,Woods,Obers..missing was Jackie Meridith) at Land Yacht Harbor in Melbourne,Fl. We had a get together at "Obers" airstream, each brought their own supper and then we gabbed alot. We caught up on all the news. Lights arrived here at noon from Penna. They will be here a week then off to the Canjun Caravan. We are leaving here sat for Give Kids the World for a week. It was great to see everyone.

PORT ROYAL - George L. Settlemyer, 94, formerly of Port Royal, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at 5 a.m at Coble Health Care Center, Burlington, N.C.
Born Dec. 17, 1916, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Clifton T. and Elizabeth (Thomas) Settlemyer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Koch) Settlemyer, who died Oct. 26, 2003.
He is survived by one daughter, Vera S. Barker, of Burlington, N.C.; one son, Clifton G. Settlemyer, of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
George was a Penn State County Extension Director and Agricultural Agent for 33 and a half years.
He was a 1934 graduate of Wilmore High School, Wilmore, and a graduate of Penn State University and University of Wisconsin.
He was a member of the Port Royal Lutheran Church, where he was a past council member.
He served as past president and past district governor of the Mifflintown Rotary Club. He was the former director of the Juniata County Industrial Development Authority; director of First National Bank, Mifflintown; first chairman of the Juniata County Planning Commission; past president of Pennsylvania County Agents Association; past local unit director of Wally Byrum Caravan Clubs of America and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.
The service will be held on Monday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Port Royal Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Charles L. Hershberger officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to George Settlemyer Juniata County 4H Trust, c/o Trust Dept., First National Bank, P.O. Box 96, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
I know many of the older members remember George(and his wife Ruth) as very active airstreamers. I have so many great memories of George and Ruth(passed several years ago)They were a lively couple who enjoyed traveling!! Like the rest of us.

Going to Canada on a caravan and ended up with another group upon arrival at Region 2
He thought he was still following The Taylors( right Gladys?)
His wit with many stories
His love for Port Royal Hometown
His annual Christmas letters and how proud he was of the Grandkids
When Ruth had the start of Alhiemers..they took a Round the World Trip so she would enjoy it Too!!
Her wit as an Elementary teacher
George had a very Active social life and lived it to the Fullest
